Sonja, a general nurse from Serbia, always dreamed of working abroad. She wanted a change — to experience a new place, improve her skills, and learn new things.
At first, she hoped to move to Norway. But as life often shows us, the path we start on isn’t always the one we follow. Sonja’s journey led her somewhere completely different — and today, she couldn’t be more grateful.
A First Attempt That Didn’t Go as Planned
Her first chance to work abroad came through an agency offering a nursing job in Malta.
“The interview didn’t go well because I didn’t know how to prepare,” Sonja says honestly.
Even though it didn’t work out, she didn’t give up. The idea of living and working abroad stayed in her mind — she wanted a fresh start and a new challenge.
She started looking into other options, and that’s when a friend told her about GGC Agency. Her friend had a good experience with them, so Sonja decided to get in touch.
A New Opportunity with Go Global Care
From the very first conversation with the GGC team, Sonja felt confident.
“After my first interview with GGC, I was completely sure I wanted to go for it,” she recalls.
She speaks highly of the professionalism, support, and kindness of the whole team — especially Miranda, her personal consultant, who helped and supported her every step of the way.
With everything in place, Sonja accepted a position in one of GGC’s partner hospitals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
New Beginnings in Saudi Arabia
Moving to a new country is never easy. The culture, language, and even the weather can feel unfamiliar at first.
“The beginning was challenging,” Sonja admits. “You’re adjusting to a completely different way of life. But that’s part of the journey.”
Now, one year later, Sonja feels fully settled — both at work and in her everyday life. She continues to grow in her nursing role, gaining valuable experience in a multicultural hospital setting.
And beyond work, Sonja has also discovered a new passion: diving. Living near the Red Sea gave her the chance to explore the underwater world for the first time — something she had never imagined before.
“It became one of my favorite things to do in my free time,” she says.
Advice for Others Thinking About Working Abroad
Sonja hopes her story will inspire other nurses and healthcare professionals who are considering working abroad.
“It’s always good to try,” she says. “You gain new experience and knowledge, meet new people, and see the world from a different perspective. It really opens your mind.”
